A Few Jams Worth Listening To
Sound quality here is again good. Nothing incredible but certainly very listenable.
Shimmy starts out pretty boring but gets REALLY cool at 13:55, which is unbelievably good for a while. The peak of the song is very well done as well.
SBMC jam is so boring. So, so, so boring. I don't think Brownstein ever gets away from the original riff/meter. This is an ENORMOUS waste of 22 minutes.
Vassillios > Spectacle - What a neat pairing of songs. The jam out of Vassillios is very pretty. Not in that sort of happy uplifting pretty way, but in a very chilled out psychedelic way. The melt into Spectacle is fantastic.
The Tunnel has a happy, upbeat jam in it. Quite enjoyable.
7-11 > HDPF - The jam in 7-11 stems out of the "reggae" portion. The jam doesn't really go anywhere, but Magner does bust out Gates of Hell around the 12 minute mark. Weird to hear this effect used in such a slow jam. The 1st House Dog jam is pretty slow to get going, and even when it does it's not all that interesting. The 2nd jam on the other hand is absolutely fantastic. Some really psychedelic music, really neat push-and-pull between Barber and Magner.
News From Nowhere - Not really a fan of this song. Standalone, as well.
Pygmy > Trooper > Moon > 7-11 - The jam out of Pygmy is a little too meandering for my tastes. The jam out of Trooper on the other hand is fantastic right from the get-go. Magner is using his flute patch, which I'm a huge sucker for. This is another nice little jam, very chilled out. It starts picking up the pace a little bit, and Barber is leading pretty well here. It sounds for a bit like they want to go into the middle of TVM, but they don't, and the drop into it is actually pretty good. 1st TVM jam is very typical of this jam, 2nd jam sounds like it has potential, but doesn't really go anywhere unfortunately. Once they get back into 7-11, Barber takes a short little solo, which is nice.
Frog Legs - I'm not a big fan of this style of Biscuits (i.e. cheesy), but if you like this song, you'll enjoy this version I suppose since it's decently played.
Overall, another average show. 3 stars because about half of the material is worth listening to and the other half is pretty boring, and with News/Frog Legs, two jamless songs, I decided to go with 3. Get Shimmy, Vassillios > Spectacle, House Dog (for 2nd jam), and Trooper.
